"Teaching is a difficult art, but it is the best service you can do for humanity."
- B.K.S. Iyengar
Our system of certification was developed by B.K.S. Iyengar. Worldwide it is standardized, non-profit and merit-based, ensuring maximum levels of competence and commitment in our certified teachers.
An Iyengar yoga teacher must be a student first.Becoming a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (C.I.Y.T.) is a long-term commitment. Introductory-level certification requires a minimum of four years of rigorous training and preparation. In the USA, assessments are carried out by our non-profit association: Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States (IYNAUS). Certification is awarded to candidates who successfully pass these assessments. Iyengar certified teachers may be granted higher levels of certification after additional years of training and by passing more advanced assessments.
