Our system of certification was developed by B.K.S. Iyengar and worldwide is standardised, non-profit and merit-based, ensuring maximum levels of competence and commitment in our certified teachers.In the USA, yearly assessments are carried out by the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States (IYNAUS). Certification is awarded to candidates who successfully pass these assessments.A teacher must be a student first.Becoming a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher is a long-term commitment. Before applying for your first assessment you must have completed six years of training under a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (C.I.Y.T.) Teacher Trainees preparing for assessment must have a C.I.Y.T. who agrees to serve as Mentor and guide them through the certification process.
