Kim Peralta began practicing Iyengar yoga in 1987 under the late Senior Iyengar teacher Mary Dunn. She began training in India under B.K.S. Iyengar and Geeta Iyengar in 1989 and was certified to teach Iyengar Yoga in 1991. In 1992 she co-founded the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York, and in 1996 was granted permission by B.K.S. Iyengar to open the Iyengar Yoga School of Northern New Jersey, where she was director for 12 years. Her certificate level was upgraded to Intermediate lll in 1997.Kim eventually moved to Maine and founded the Iyengar Yoga Center in Brooksville, also with B.K.S. Iyengar's blessing. She currently serves as Membership Chair for the Iyengar Yoga Association of New England (IYANE).
